Keep enough of your life yours that you still recognize yourself without an audience.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
If enough of your life is conducted for other people, the version they see gradually becomes the version you consult. Preferences, ambitions, and even moods start being partly performed, and it becomes hard to say what you would want if no one were watching. Keeping some part unobserved is what preserves the answer to that question. Recognizing yourself alone is not automatic.
Spend some regular time doing something with no audience and no record. Ask periodically what you would choose if nobody would ever know. If the answer is hard to reach, that is worth acting on.
How much of your day is lived for someone watching?
