Saying “I was wrong about that” out loud is a skill. It gets easier with practice, and people respect it.

Admitting a mistake out loud is awkward mainly in anticipation. The sentence is short, the other person almost always relaxes, and the conversation can finally move on to what is actually true. What makes it a skill rather than a feeling is that repetition genuinely lowers the cost, so the fourth time is noticeably easier than the first. People trust somebody who can say it.
Find something small you were wrong about recently and say so plainly to the person involved. No long explanation, no justification attached. Notice that the conversation gets easier afterwards rather than harder.
