Sometimes a place means something only because of who used to be there with you.

Some locations have no particular quality of their own. A parking lot, a bench, a corner of a gym: they do nothing for anybody else, and they only matter because of who was standing in them with you. This also explains why a place can go flat after somebody leaves. You were never attached to the geography.
Be careful about judging a place by how it feels now, since some of that is really about who is missing. And when somewhere is good at the moment, notice that it is the company doing the work.
Why does that ordinary place still matter to you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
