Somebody taught you to tie your shoes. You don’t remember who. That’s how most help works.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
The majority of what you can do was installed by people you cannot name. Somebody showed you how to hold a pencil, cross a road, speak to an adult, and none of it filed itself with a credit. The help worked so well that it disappeared into you and stopped being help. That is the usual fate of anything useful one person does for another.
You will be on the other end of this more often than you notice. Help somebody younger with something small and expect no memory of it. The forgetting is a sign it worked.
Who taught you something you cannot remember learning?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
