When you’re scared, picture how you’ll feel looking back on not trying. It doesn’t decide for you, but it helps.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Fear is good at describing the cost of acting and silent about the cost of not acting. That asymmetry is why the safe option feels obvious: only one of the two risks is being presented to you. Naming the other one does not settle the question, since sometimes the answer really is no.
Before the next thing you are avoiding, spend a minute with the version of you in a year who did not do it. Then decide, with both costs visible. Some you will still skip, and that choice will be yours rather than the fear’s.
Would you regret not trying more than trying badly?
