A solution nobody understands becomes another problem to maintain.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Anything nobody understands becomes a permanent liability. It cannot be improved safely, cannot be handed over, and every question about it costs somebody time. Whatever advantage the clever version had is spent on the ongoing burden of maintaining it. Comprehensibility is a feature, and it is usually undervalued at the moment of design.

Before finalizing something, ask whether a competent person could pick it up cold and follow it. If not, either simplify it or document it thoroughly. The second is a fallback; the first is the fix.
