Decide what “enough” looks like before someone sells you a bigger number.

If you have not defined enough, somebody else will, and their number will always sit slightly above wherever you are. Advertising, rankings and comparison all work by supplying the next figure before you have finished with this one. Having your own number is not a lack of ambition, it is the only way to tell when you have arrived.

Set your own number for one thing and write it down: hours of practice, money saved, grades, followers. Keep it somewhere visible, and notice who tries to move it for you.
