Some jobs pay in money, some pay in meaning. The best ones pay a little of both. Know what you’re being paid in.

Every job pays in more than one currency, and the ones that never appear on a payslip still count: what you learn, who you meet, whether you can respect the work. Trouble starts when you take a job for one currency and then resent it for not handing over the other as well.

Write down what your current or next job is paying you in, honestly, including the parts that are not money. If the answer is only money, that is fine, as long as you know it and have a plan for the money.
