Art doesn’t need to be good to be meaningful. It needs to be yours.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Judging what you make by whether it is good enough to show kills most of it before it exists. Quality is one axis and ownership is a different one. A song or a drawing or a page that is unmistakably yours has done its job whether or not anybody rates it, and skill only ever arrives to people who made things badly for a while first.
Make one thing this week with no plan to show it to anybody. Keep it instead of deleting it, because the pile is what turns into skill.
What have you made that mattered despite being rough?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
