Your future self cannot speak in the meeting. They inherit everything you decide at eleven at night and get no vote in it, which makes planning ahead less a matter of self-control than of representing somebody who is absent. Laying out the kit, setting the alarm across the room, writing the list: none of that is restriction, it is one person covering for another.

Do one thing tonight purely for whoever wakes up tomorrow. Bag packed, bottle filled, phone charging in the kitchen. In the morning, notice that somebody looked after you.
