You can be proud of a job that doesn’t impress anyone at parties.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Work gets ranked by how it sounds in a sentence, which has little to do with whether it is worth doing. Stocking shelves, cleaning, care work, warehouse shifts: those sound like nothing at a party, they keep ordinary life running, and doing them well takes real attention. Pride is better based on how you do a job than on how the job plays socially.
If you are working, pick one part of it to be properly good at. Speed, accuracy, how you handle a difficult customer. Let the party ranking be somebody else’s problem.
Which part of your job are you quietly proud of?
