Your work polo doesn’t say who you are. How you talk to the customer who’s having a bad day does.

The uniform carries no information about you. Everybody on the shift has the same one, so the only thing that distinguishes you is conduct, and the sharpest test of it is the person in front of you who is already having a bad day. How you handle them while they are unreasonable is visible to every colleague on the floor.
On your next shift, pick the hardest customer of the day and stay level with them. Afterwards, notice that your manager remembers it, and that you do as well.
How do you speak to people having their worst day?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
