The best night of your summer might have zero photos. Often that’s a sign it was good.

REFLECTION
Documenting something and being inside it compete for the same attention. If an evening produced nothing to post, it is often because everybody there was busy, laughing, mid-conversation, with no spare capacity for arranging a shot. Photographs tend to come from the stretches where somebody had a free hand and a reason to prove it was happening.
Leave the phone in a pocket for one whole evening this week. You will get a worse record and a better night. The memory keeps anyway, more accurately than the camera would.
Was your best night this year ever photographed?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
