Notice which compliments you remember for years. They tell you what you actually want to be known for.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Praise mostly evaporates, apart from the few pieces that lodge and stay for years. Those are worth examining, because what sticks tells you what you were quietly hoping was true: that you are kind, or funny, or the one people can depend on. The compliments you forget were about things you do not actually value, however flattering they sounded.
Write down the two or three you still remember. Look at what they have in common and treat it as a description of what you want to be known for. Then do more of that.
