Almost everyone feels like the odd one out at some point. You’re more normal than your brain says.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
The feeling of being the only one who does not fit is nearly universal, which is a strange thing about it. Everyone is comparing their inside to everybody else’s outside, and the outsides all look settled. Your brain treats the gap as proof that something is specifically wrong with you, when the gap is just what having an inside feels like.
Ask someone you trust whether they ever feel out of place, and let them answer properly. The answer is almost always yes, with details. Having heard it once makes the feeling much easier to carry the next time it arrives.
