Neglect has momentum.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Once something has been let go for a while, continuing to let it go becomes easier. The bill unpaid, the room unaddressed, the conversation not had, all get harder to face in proportion to how long they have been avoided, which makes further avoidance the path of least resistance. Neglect builds its own case for more neglect. That is why small things become large ones.

Pick the thing you have been avoiding longest and do the first five minutes of it. Not the whole thing, only enough to break the momentum. Direction is easier to change than speed.
