Every “I’m fine” you don’t mean teaches the people who love you to stop asking.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
People learn from what you give them. Answer fine enough times and the question becomes a formality, then it quietly disappears from the conversation altogether, which is not them giving up on you so much as believing you. Later, when you do need somebody to notice, the habit you trained is the one running. The word is efficient and it costs you the asking.
Pick one person and give them a real answer this week, even a small one: tired, worried about Monday, a bit flat. You do not have to explain everything. One honest word keeps the door from closing.
Who stopped asking how you are because you kept deflecting?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
