Switching how you talk for different rooms isn’t fake. Forgetting how you talk at home would be.

REFLECTION
Everybody has registers. You do not speak to a customer the way you speak to your brother, and that is skill rather than dishonesty: adjusting for the room is how communication works. The thing worth watching is whether all of it is still switchable. Moving between voices is a tool; losing the one you grew up with, so the home version no longer comes easily, is a real loss.
Use the home voice somewhere this week where you usually would not: on the phone, with a friend from school, in a message. A language or an accent you stop using gets harder to pick back up.
Could you slip back into your family’s way of speaking?
