When someone needs your answer right now, that’s usually your cue to slow down.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Urgency is the most common tool for getting a decision somebody could not get on the merits. If the offer genuinely stands only for the next ten minutes, there is usually a reason it cannot survive your thinking about it. Real opportunities tend to tolerate a night of consideration. The pressure is information about the person applying it, not about the thing.
Have a sentence ready so you do not have to improvise one: that you will let them know tomorrow. Use it on anything financial, anything you would be signing, anything with a crowd watching. If the offer evaporates overnight, you learned what it was.
Who pressures you for answers before you can think?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
