Even a bad coach teaches you something: exactly what kind of leader you won’t be.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
You learn leadership from everybody who has had power over you, including the ones who used it badly. Being shouted at in front of a team teaches you exactly how that lands, which is knowledge a good coach cannot hand you. The lesson gets stored as a feeling, and feelings make very clear rules.
Write down two things your worst coach or boss did that you will never do. Keep them specific, like naming players in front of everyone. You already have small places to practice the opposite: a group project, a younger sibling, a new kid at practice.
What did a bad boss show you never to do?
