Confidence from never hearing no breaks the first time it hears one. Confidence built from a hundred no’s doesn’t.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Two things look alike from the outside. One is confidence that has never been tested, which holds up beautifully until the first refusal and then falls apart. The other was assembled out of refusals, so a new one is not news; it is a familiar event with a known recovery time.

Go collect a few on purpose this week. Ask for the shift, the extra reps, the audition, the help from a teacher you find intimidating. The point is not a yes every time but finding out that a no is survivable and, after a while, fairly boring.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which rejection left you steadier rather than smaller?
