Knowing your weaknesses is information. Announcing them before anyone asks is just surrendering early.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Knowing where you are weak is genuinely valuable, since it tells you what to practice and when to ask for help. Saying it out loud to a room that had not noticed is a different act. It sets low expectations for you, reduces what people ask of you, and hands you a ready-made reason for not trying.

Keep the honest list for yourself and for the one or two people actually helping you work on it. Drop the opening disclaimer about being bad at this. Let people form their own view, and put the energy into practice instead of the warning.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What do you warn people about yourself before they notice anything?
