The friend everyone vents to rarely gets asked how they’re doing. Ask them.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
The steady one in a friend group gets handed everybody’s bad days and almost never gets a turn. Part of that is their own doing, because listening is safer than being the one who needs something, and part of it is that calm people look like they require no checking on. So the group quietly runs on somebody whose own week nobody knows anything about.
Work out who that is for you and ask them directly, in person or on a call rather than in a thread. Ask twice if the first answer is fine. Then stay quiet long enough that they have room to say something true.
Who listens to all your problems and is never asked theirs?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
