An umbrella flips inside out when it fights the wind head-on. Turn a little and it holds.

Direct resistance is not always the strongest option. Meeting a force square on puts all of it into your weakest point, while a small angle lets most of it pass and leaves you standing, which is as true of arguments as of weather. Turning is not surrender. It changes how much of the force you have to absorb.
In your next disagreement, try an angle instead of a wall: ask a question, agree with the part that is true, come back to it tomorrow. Save the head-on approach for the few things that genuinely need it, and notice how much less of it breaks you.
Where could turning slightly work better than pushing straight ahead?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
