A neglected asset eventually becomes an expense.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Deferred care does not vanish; it accrues. The unchanged filter becomes a failed motor. The unsealed wood becomes rot. Every small maintenance you skip is a loan taken out against a future version of yourself, and it is repaid with interest at the worst possible moment.

Make a short list of things you know are slipping. Not everything on it deserves rescuing, and choosing to let something go is a legitimate answer. But for the two or three that matter, doing the small thing now is almost always the cheapest version of the problem.
