A lock on a diary won’t stop anyone determined. It just tells them you asked. Respect the asking.

A small lock is a request rather than a defense. Anyone determined enough can get past it in a minute, so the only thing it genuinely communicates is that someone drew a line and hoped you would honor it. Most boundaries work that way. A closed door, a left phone, a conversation someone declines to have. None of them could stop you, and all of them are asking.
Watch for a line somebody draws around you this week and honor it without needing it explained. Then notice how much easier people find it to trust you after that.
Whose small request for privacy have you brushed past?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
