A bridge’s real strength is sunk in the riverbed, where nobody takes pictures.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

The part doing the work is buried. A bridge holds because of what was sunk into the riverbed years ago, and nobody photographs that, and no part of it is interesting to look at. Most of what makes a person dependable is the same sort of hidden: the hours of practice, the sleep, the honesty nobody witnessed, the boring repetition. Visible results sit on top of invisible foundations.

Give one unphotographable thing proper time this week. Fundamentals, a chapter nobody assigned, an early night. Nobody will notice, which is how you know it is foundation work.
