A green light only means go if the road is clear. Permission isn’t the same as safety.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Permission and safety are two different questions, and only one of them is being answered when something is allowed. A green light means the rules are letting you go. It cannot tell you whether the intersection is clear, whether somebody else is running theirs, whether tonight is the night to be moving at all. Plenty of things you are permitted to do are still worth a second look.

Before the next thing you have been cleared for, pause long enough to check the road. Ask who else is involved and what you are not seeing from where you are sitting.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What were you allowed to do that was still unwise?
