If every ending has the same villain, eventually inspect the narrator.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Across enough stories, the recurring character is the one telling them. If every job ended with an impossible boss and every friendship ended with someone who changed, the shared element is not the cast. That does not make you the villain, and it does not mean nobody wronged you. It means the account has a perspective that has never been checked.

Try telling one of those stories from the other person’s side, as fairly as you can manage, just as an exercise. You do not have to believe it. Notice what you had to leave out of your version to make it work.
