Some protections are mildly irritating for a long time and decisive for an instant. A belt bothers you for the entire ride and the entire value of it arrives in half a second that may never come, which makes it almost impossible to feel grateful for in advance. A lot of good rules have that shape. Helmets, passwords, honesty with your parents about where you are.
Stop negotiating with one of those this week. Just do it every time without the internal argument, and save the deliberating for decisions that actually need it.
Which precaution do you resent until the day it matters?
