“Oversight” means being in charge and making a mistake. Leadership comes with both in the box.

Being responsible and making a mistake live in the same word, which is probably not an accident. Anybody put in charge of anything will get something wrong, and the two arrive together in the box, and pretending otherwise is what makes people terrified of leading. The question is never whether you will miss something. It is what you do in the hour after you notice.

When you are in charge of something small this week, a shift, a group, a younger sibling, decide now how you will handle the error. Say it early, fix what you can, do not perform the guilt.
