Plants in a windowsill lean toward the light without trying. You’ll lean toward whoever you spend the most time near.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Leaning happens without a decision. A plant on a sill grows toward the window because that is simply what being near light does to it over weeks, and proximity works on you the same way. You pick up the vocabulary, the standards, the sense of what is normal, from whoever you spend the most hours beside. Nobody persuades you. You just gradually tilt.

Add up where your hours actually go and who is in them. Then put one hour this week next to somebody you would not mind growing toward, and notice which direction you have been leaning.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Who are you spending the most hours near these days?
