A compass still works when your phone has no bars. Old tools sometimes beat new ones.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Simple things fail less often because there is less in them to fail. Anything depending on a signal, a charge or a subscription has conditions attached, and those conditions tend to go missing exactly when you need the thing most. Newer does not always mean more reliable. Sometimes it means more things have to be working at once.

Keep one low-tech backup this week for something you depend on. A paper copy of the schedule, a watch that does not need charging, a phone number written somewhere other than the phone.

Which older way of doing things still serves you best?
