Bridge piers stand in a moving river all day without drifting downstream. Steady isn’t the same as stuck.

Staying put while everything moves past you is work, not inertia. It takes something to hold a position in a current, and from a distance that looks like doing nothing, which is why steadiness gets mistaken for a lack of ambition. Some of what you are holding right now takes more out of you than moving would.

Give yourself credit this week for something you are simply continuing to do. Turning up, keeping a promise, being the reliable one in a group that is not. Then check once that you are standing somewhere you chose, rather than somewhere you got left.
