A watch gets handed down because it kept going for someone else first. Be something worth passing on.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Things get handed on because they proved themselves over a long stretch with somebody else. Reliability is what makes an object worth keeping, and the same holds for habits, recipes, jokes and ways of treating people. They travel because they worked, and what you build well may outlast your part in it.

Think about what you would want to leave with someone this week. Teach the younger kid on the team the drill that fixed your technique. Write down the family recipe while the person who knows it is still in the kitchen with you.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What of yours would somebody want to be given?
