Teaching someone a skill takes longer than doing it yourself. That’s the cost of not doing it yourself forever.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Handing something over is slower than keeping it, every single time, in the moment. The reason to do it anyway is arithmetic across months, since an hour spent teaching is paid back every time you are not the only person who can do the thing. Keeping all the knowledge makes you feel useful and quietly traps you.

Teach one thing you always do yourself this week. Show a teammate the setup, walk a coworker through the closing routine, explain the system to your sibling. Accept that it goes slower this once, then let them actually do it next time.
