Some places feel important because of who you were while standing there.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Some places carry weight out of all proportion to what they look like. A parking lot, a stairwell, an ordinary kitchen. Their importance is not in the geography but in who you were while you stood there, and what was decided or lost or begun in that moment.

When a plain place hits you harder than it should, do not dismiss the feeling. Ask what was happening in you then. Often it points at something unfinished, and naming it is easier than carrying it around as a vague reaction to a street corner.
