Impatience is a tax. You pay it in mistakes, overspending and stuff you have to redo.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Hurrying is rarely free. It shows up as the full-price purchase you could have waited two weeks for, the glued-wrong assembly, the message you have to send twice because the first one was unclear. Add those up over a month and they are the most expensive thing in it.

Track the tax for a week. Every time you redo something, pay more than you had to, or clean up a mess you made by rushing, write one line about it. Read the list on Sunday. The pattern will point at one or two moments in your day where slowing down by ten minutes pays for itself.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where has rushing cost you money or work you redid?
