Waiting on someone else’s sorry can eat years. You’re allowed to close that tab without it.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
An apology you are owed may never arrive, usually because the other person remembers it differently or cannot face it. While you hold the account open, they control when you get to move on. Letting it go is not agreeing it was fine; it is declining to keep paying rent on it.
You can decide this quietly, maybe by writing down what happened and what you wished they had said, and then leaving it there. If they are still in your life, you get to choose how much access they have without announcing anything. And if the apology does arrive one day, you are allowed to accept it anyway.
