Ask your grandparents what they saved up for at your age. You’ll probably hear about patience they never called patience.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

People who grew up without instant anything did not experience waiting as a virtue. It was simply how getting something worked: you put money aside for months and then you had the thing. Hearing that from someone in your own family makes it concrete in a way advice never does, because they can tell you the price and the length of time.

Sit down with them and ask what the first big thing they bought was. Then ask how long it took and what they gave up for it. Listen for the part they skip over, which is usually the two years of not having it.
