Belonging somewhere does not require never wanting to leave.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Belonging is not the absence of restlessness. You can be genuinely rooted somewhere and still want to go, still be curious about elsewhere, still feel a pull toward horizons. Treating that pull as evidence of not belonging makes people abandon good ground for no reason.

Give yourself permission to want both. Take the trip and come back. Wanting to leave sometimes is compatible with a life that is firmly planted, and testing that is usually cheaper than uprooting it.
