In origami your first crane takes twenty minutes. Your fiftieth takes three. Speed is a side effect of patience.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Fast is what slow becomes. Nobody gets quick by trying to be quick; they get quick because the movements stopped needing attention, and that only happens through repetition done carefully. Rushing early just builds sloppy habits at speed, which you then have to unlearn. The three-minute version is paid for with forty-nine slower ones.

Do the next one slowly and accurately on purpose, even though you could hurry it. Count your repetitions rather than timing them. Speed will show up without being chased, usually around the point where you stop thinking about the steps.
