Anything permanent deserves a waiting period. If you’ll still want it in six months, it’s probably real.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Permanence deserves a different standard of evidence than everything else. Reversible choices can be made quickly because being wrong costs little, while anything you cannot take back needs to survive a version of you in a completely different mood. A want that lasts six months is a want; a want that lasts an afternoon is a feeling.
Put a date on anything irreversible you are considering and let the date decide, with nothing committed in the meantime. Spend the gap researching rather than persuading yourself. If you still want it at the end, you will want it with much better information.
What permanent thing do you want enough to wait six months?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
