The first few weeks of any new habit feel like dragging furniture. Then one day it just moves.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Starting costs far more than continuing, and the early effort is no measure of how hard the thing will always be. Every decision has to be made consciously at first, which is exhausting, and then repetition moves the whole business out of the deciding part of your mind. What changes is not the task but how much of you it takes.

Make the first three weeks as small as you can stand, so the only thing being built is the habit of starting. Attach it to something that already happens daily. Expect the heavy feeling and wait it out.
