Inherited tools come with a lesson built in: they lasted because someone used them carefully, not quickly.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
An old tool still working is evidence about its owner. Things survive decades because somebody cleaned them, put them away, and used them at a pace that did not damage them, so what you inherited is a record of how a person worked. That care is the only reason the object reached your hands at all.
Take whatever you own that you want to still have in twenty years and treat it that way this week: clean it, store it properly, use it at the right speed. Ask whoever gave it to you how they looked after it.
What did you inherit that someone clearly treated with care?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
