A rebuilding year isn’t a lost year. It’s where next season’s wins get assembled quietly.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

A season that looks worse on paper can be the one where the real work happens. Young players get minutes, systems get tested, mistakes get made cheaply, and none of that shows in the record while all of it shows up the following year. Judging the period by its scoreboard measures the wrong thing entirely.

If you are in a stretch where results are poor by design, decide what you want it to produce other than wins: experience, fitness, a role you have never played. Keep a list of what improved. Judge the year against that list when it ends.
