Your quiet time doesn’t need to be productive to count.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Rest keeps getting measured by what it produces, which defeats the point. An hour staring out the window does not need a book, a workout or a finished project attached to justify it, and the habit of attaching one turns every gap into another thing to perform. Time off is not an input to anything. It counts because you were in it.
Take an hour this week with nothing to show for it afterwards. No tracking, no tidying, no half-watching a lecture at double speed. If you catch yourself looking for something to make it worthwhile, that noticing is the practice.
What restful thing do you justify by calling it useful?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
