Nature measures success in survival and continuation more than appearance.

LEADERSHIP
Nothing in nature is graded on how it looks. A scarred, lopsided tree that is still producing seed has succeeded completely. The standard is whether life continued, and by that measure a great deal of what we consider ugly is thriving and much of what we find beautiful is not.
It is worth asking which standard you are actually using on yourself. If your sense of doing well is mostly about appearance, you may be failing a test that does not matter while passing one that does. Continuation counts for more than presentation.
