Some opinions are better saved for the drive home.

Not every true thing needs saying in the room it occurs to you in. Saying it at the table turns a dinner into an event, and whatever you were right about gets remembered as the moment you started something. The opinion keeps perfectly well for an hour. Holding it is not dishonesty, it is choosing the audience.

When something surfaces at a family meal this week, hold it until you are in the car with the one person who will actually want to hear it. Say the whole thing then. You will usually find the version you say in the car is the better version anyway.
