Grown-up peace looks like a paid bill, a clean shirt and nobody owed an explanation.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being settled turns out to be made of very small, unexciting pieces. Nothing overdue, something clean to wear, no conversation you are avoiding: none of that photographs, and all of it is what calm actually consists of. It gets imagined as a feeling that will arrive, when it is mostly the absence of small unfinished things. The ordinary version is the real one.
List the three small unfinished things that nag at you most, then clear one this week. Pay it, wash it, or send the message you have been postponing. The lightness afterwards is out of proportion to the effort, every time.
How would an ordinary, settled, unremarkable week feel to you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
